About Maribel Schönewolff and her project

Maribel obtained her undergraduate and Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Cologne focussing on molecular genetics and cell biology. As a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing she investigated the metabolic regulation of ageing and proteotoxicity in the round worm C. elegans (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-23856-9).

In 2019, Maribel received the Oxford Wolfson Marriott Scholarship in Biochemistry and went on to study the ubiquitin-dependent regulation of innate immunity in Oxford, UK where she received her PhD in 2023.

Maribel joined the Zuccaro group in 2024 to research the interference of fungal root microbiota with TIR-mediated plant immunometabolism.
