Xianyu Niu comes from China and is doing a joint PhD at Sichuan Agricultural University in China and at the University of Cologne.

Her major is Phytopathology. She received a very highly competitive scholarship from the Chinese Scholarship Council to come to Cologne. Her main topic here will be to understand how pathogen effectors affect interaction with the plant host.
